This update comes from the tipster – @UniverseIce and as per his X post, the One UI 8 build from the firmware version of ‘BYEQ’ has been updated to ‘BYG1’, and the latest build has upgraded the kernel version from ‘6.6.57’ to ‘6.6.77’. As noted by the tipster, this is the first time the kernel version is being upgraded ever since the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s One UI 8 internal test was conducted. Furthermore, the tipster adds that the fluency has again been improved, while the functions will gradually be improved.

Looking at previous reports, late last month in June 2025, a One UI 8 build for the Galaxy S25 series was spotted without a beta tag – suggesting that the brand has a stable build ready for this year’s flagships. Around the same time, a Galaxy A55 smartphone model was also spotted on the Geekbench database running on the Android 16-based One UI 8 custom skin. Also, two days back, a One UI 8 Watch Beta update was rolled out for a few selected Galaxy Watches as well.

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event via which the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE/Special Edition, Galaxy Watch 8, and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic devices are expected to be unveiled will be conducted on the 9th of July 2025. On the same day, the latest Android 16 based One UI 8 custom skin will also be released and will come pre-installed on the upcoming Galaxy devices.

Stay tuned for more updates.
